We have been wanting to shoot with Nick for awhile because we kept hearing great things about him. :) And we were not disappointed. Nick was a fantastic model to work with. We had so much fun together! It really was effortless to capture Nick. Did you also know that he’s also a talented photographer? Check out the amazing pictures below.

Japan Vacation - Using Instagram

The thing about traveling is that you want to travel light. We debated back and forth if we should be our digital SLR’s or not. On the one hand, we thought it would be nice to have high quality pictures and amazing video. But the drawback was that it was really big, heavy, and carrying it all day would not be a lot of fun. So Phil instead went with his film point and shoot camera, the Yashica T4, and I chose the Canon Elan 7. And while we shot a lot of film, we took even more photos with our iPhones using the app Instagram. We shot a total of 265 Instagram pictures between the both of us. It was just so easy and a fun way to document our vacation. And we got to share with our friends and family right away too!

Here are few Instagram photos of our 2 week trip.

We’ll start with a few pictures of the Japanese subway and people at the stations.

Japan Vacation - Tsukiji Fish Market

The Tsukiji Fish Market is one of the things you have to go see when you’re in Japan. And you have to go soon before they move to a completely different location! Phil gave me the grand tour of Tsukiji and the surrounding outdoor marketplace. It’s really amazing that the market has so many different types of fresh seafood. We’ve seen things that we’ve never seen or heard of before. It was really fascinating seeing all the seafood on display and the vendors preparing some of them. Whatever seafood you can dream of, you can most likely find it here. :)

All pictures were shot on Fuji 400 Superia film.

Japan Vacation - Part 1 - Cherry Blossoms!

We just came back from our 2 week vacation to Japan and it was AMAZING!! Phil had been there many times before and lived there for a few months, but it was my first time going there! We also went with Phil’s brother-in-law, Bert! The main reason for this trip was to go during cherry blossom season, or as the Japanese would call it, hanami! For this one to two week period, people lay down their blue tarps and patiently await for the cherry blossoms to bloom! When they finally do bloom, people sit underneath the trees with friends and family to eat and drink!

When we first arrived, the trees weren’t blooming as fast as we hoped. We saw a few trees here and there, but for the most part the majority of them only had buds. We just knew when it was in full bloom that it would look spectacular! We traveled to Kyoto on the last few days of our trip. When we returned back, we only had 1 day left in Japan and all the trees were in bloom! It was so amazing!

We took all these pictures with our iPhones using Instagram. It just made it so easy for us to capture our memories. It was a nice alternative to the film cameras we used. Stay tuned for more pictures!

Ueno Park.

We found this beautiful area on our way to the Impossible Project! We so wished the trees were fully bloomed. It was already beautiful but we knew it could even be better.

Kyoto. The Philosopher’s Path.

We found a sidewalk that finally had some trees that had some nice blossoms on it in Kyoto. We were so excited!!

At Nijo Castle.

After Kyoto, we came back hearing that Tokyo was in full bloom. The reports did not disappoint!

There were so many trees that lined both sides of the path! It was stunning!! It was magical and surreal to be walking underneath them!

There was also a small lake at Ueno Park and you could rent paddleboats and rowboats! Of course we rented the swan paddleboat! :)

Chidorigafuchi Moat surrounding the Imperial Palace. This by far was the most spectacular thing we saw. In this area there were so many cherry blossoms it was ridiculous. At the moat, you could rent a rowboat and see the blossoms from the water. Of course we had to do that!

We are finally back from vacation and to start things off, we wanted to share that we were recently featured on The Bride’s Cafe!! Whoo hoo!! Janie chose Lori+Carlos’ beautiful wedding and we couldn’t be more pleased. :)

We recently had the privilege of shooting the ladies of Davis Law Firm! They were all so fun to be around with. We definitely had a lot of laughs! :) Risa Davis is the attorney of this office and she has 2 wonderful girls assisting her, Anna + Lina (Anna is actually the sister of a wonderful wedding vendor that we’ve worked with, Lindsay of Paper Bloom!).

Originally we wanted to shoot outside, but since it’s been raining so much, we had to do it indoors. As you’ll see below, we shot in front a white wall and the second picture isn’t a backdrop or wallpaper, it’s actually a painting they had in the office that we propped up on 2 chairs! :) We decided to give it a try and see how it looked and I think they turned quite nicely!
